Playing with text filters I thought the best way was to cu'n'paste your text from the OLH into an sql window in EDBMan - the cursor vanishes. Paste the text into Notepad, remove the whatever eol characters are there and then paste into EDBMan and its fine

Are you talking about the CREATE TEXT FILTER DDL example ?  Also, is this
the WinHelp or the PDF, or MS Help 2 ?

It's WinHelp, for now.   And you didn't mention where you loaded the help
from.....okay, just tried it and it still works okay for me.  However, I'm
using XP SP2 still - are you using Vista ?

Wash your mouth out - the only pc I have with Vista is simply for digitising my music.

Obviously some weird setting somewhere - doesn't matter much cos I can paste into Notepad and then move from there into EDBMan

Same here - I'm keeping Vista to a test PC for now.

I wonder if it is a Widestring/AnsiString issue ?  There's something funky
about the format that makes EDB think that there isn't any usable text in
the ClipBoard.
