I think as an overview Tim's post has it almost right. I'd reword it to

I don't think NULL's vs empty strings make it harder APART from transitioning already written apps (ps this does not mean I've changed my mind about the stupidity of the standard).

At this point in time my gut feel is that ElevateDB will cost me a few percent more typing, some mind wrenching alterations in pov or logic, plus some work to build in bits I want that don't exist anymore BUT I like what I've seen so far. I shall not be moving backwards.
