Is the text index not indexing words less than 3 characters long?  In dbisam
I could search for states (TX, MD, etc..) and now it appears not to work.

Yes, 3 characters is the minimum word length.  I've updated the manuals to
include this information, which was previously missing.

Only by modifying the source code.  It's in the constants section of the
edbstring.pas unit.
