Thread EDB Manager - stuck BEFORE getting started

Jay M
Edb 1.09 Build 4 (edbmgr.exe) Windows Vista. NOT using Unicode. Delphi RAD 2007.

I have used dbISAM long time ago and am just starting to use ElevateDB. Trying to follow the tutorial step-by-step to create database and so on.

Some how, the default session and any newly created session(s) - keep on asking for user name and password. I have created new session and
given it user name and password that I clearly remember but those are not accepted by EDB Manager. When I close and restart EDB Manger, the
default session is showing the user name I have entered and correct number of characters in the password field.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the utilities, restarted Windows, deleted EDBConfig.EDBCfg, etc. etc., etc, but to no avail. On starting
edbmgr.exe, the default session shows the user name I have entered but it would not accept the password for that user name.

Question is:
How do I get past this step? One option will be to completely get rid of password I have entered - where and how do I do that?
Other possibility is that session is expecting the password with default user Name - "Administrator" and Password: ?? (unknown to me) .

Hope I have explained the problem. I am sure there is ridiculously simple answer to all this - I just can't get past my ignorance here.

Thanks

Jay

I'm guessing from what you've written that you're trying to use a user/password combination that don't exist at that point. You need to use the defaults (Administrator/EDBDefault) to create the session then in the session you can create new users after which you can use those user/password's to access things.

The default Administrator user name and password is here:

http://www.elevatesoft.com/manual?action=mantopic&id=edb1sql&category=0&topic=8

And, as Roy indicated, you need to make sure to log in as the default
Administrator user *first*, and then you will see a Users folder in the
left-hand treeview.  Click on it and you will see options in the tasks list
for adding new users, etc.

In ElevateDB, unlike DBISAM, the user security is built-in and applicable
for local applications also.  You can choose to ignore it and use the
Administrator account for everything, but it's there if you want to use it.
