Well, let just say that I try not to change very common things like this
unless I absolutely have to.  The reason is that progress events are called
*everywhere* - in the .NET data provider/documentation, scripts/procedures,
etc.  It's a real body of work to change, and I'd prefer to work on the
newer stuff for 2.0 right now. Smiley Plus, I figured that this was something
that fell under the realm of a reasonable workaround.
