I'm not seeing that behavior here (tried it with VarChar and Integer), but
I'll keep an eye on it and see if it shows up.

Okay, I got it now.  It was the darn AutoComplete setting in Delphi -
turning it off allows the combo box to work as advertised.

Actually, cancel that - the darn incremental search in the Delphi combo box
is really screwy.  It works if you hit the same key twice within a certain
timeframe, but starts from the beginning of the list if you leave enough
time in-between the keystrokes.  Which really doesn't make much sense to me,
given the fact that the combo box knows the currently-selected value.  I
might make a descendant component that fixes this issue and use it instead.
