Altering varchar field adds blanks |

Heiko Knuettel | When I alter a VARCHAR COLLATION ANSI column to a CHAR COLLATION DEU_CI_AI_KI_WI DEFAULT
'', every field gets filled up with blank spaces. Is this "normal" behaviour ? Is there in the moment a difference between CHARs and VARCHARs ? Heiko |

>Aahhh...sorry. Just found it in the manual... You also need to watch out with VARCHAR's. Unlike DBISAM they're not RTRIM'd before being stored. The training blanks are not taken into account in sql but (I think) are in Delphi. I need to check again since I zap trailing spaces myself now. Roy Lambert [Team Elevate] |
