Thread Rename Table and Rename Field
Sat, Jul 5 2008 1:50 AMPermanent Link

Announced for 2.0, but I am having some problems finding it in the Help. Is
Rename Table done using Rename File? How do I change the name of an existing
field? Just some pointers where to look would help.

Thanks!

I tried using Alter Table and Alter Column in the ElevateDB Manager, which
would be sufficient for my purposes. Both do not allow name changes.

No, the rename and copy functionality did not make it into the initial 2.0.
They will most likely be available in 2.02 along with the
multi-select/sorting support in the EDB Manager.

2.01 will be out shortly, and it includes:

- CF (.NET Compact Framework) support (EDB running on a PDA is pretty cool)

- New bi-directional cursor support for the .NET data provider

- The EDB Manager now saves its current state during shut-down and restores
it exactly as it was during the next startup

- Improved EDB Manager loading times due to incremental node loading in the
explorer

- Improved EDB Manager keystroke handling for global keystrokes like Ctrl+S
for Saving, Ctrl+N for New, Ctrl+O for Open, etc.

- Improved EDB Manager keystroke handling in the SQL editor (completely
compatible with Delphi source editor now, apart from column-wise editing and
code-completion/templates)

- Auto-detection of scripts vs. statements during SQL opens in the EDB
Manager

- A new REFRESH statement for cursors in procedures, functions, triggers,
etc.

- New ERROR triggers for handling error conflicts (especially during
replication loads)

- A new LIST() aggregate function for forming concatenated strings

- A new CURRENT_DATABASE() function

- Index names are now present in SQL statement execution plans so that you
can tell which index was selected for optimizing a particular condition or
conditions
