  Delphi 2009 has performance improvements in the TDataset which EDB
can be benefit or i'm wrong ?

  Also, the unicode build of EDB wouldn't be faster on Delphi 2009
because the native support ?

I haven't seen the code yet.  Once I see the final Delphi 2009 release code,
I can comment further.

Yes, the reference counting for WideStrings will improve performance quite a
bit for Unicode EDB applications.
