EDBManager and underscores |
Tue, Sep 16 2008 8:15 AM | Permanent Link |
Roy Lambert NLH Associates Team Elevate | All my column names start with an underscore (eg _Date) whilst trying to debug a script in EDBManager the underscore "vanishes" from the point in the script where the colour has changed to indicate an error. Its still there (eg "_Score") but I just can't see it.
It could be putting comments round lines because that also does it, may not be anything to do with bombing but that's what caused me to notice it. Roy Lambert |

It might be in there with the script / sql page but in this case I was simply meaning running a script, waiting for it to bomb and then trying to figure it out. I know a debugger is coming but I don't remember (could be old age) an announcement about it and EDBManager doesn't yet have its own OLH (than again I have been know to exhibit blindness) Roy Lambert |

Roy,
>It might be in there with the script / sql page but in this case I was simply meaning running a script, waiting for it to bomb and then trying to figure it out. Oh, I was looking for it in procedures/functions! I've not seen the debugger in 2.01 b5 Improvements. This kind of good thing would be more announced, I guess. This is for Tim: Thanks for adding the debugger. Would be nice have it in procedures/functions. (Of course, I can extract code into an script (declaring input parameters as fixed code vars) and debug there) Tiago Ameller tiago put_an-a-_in_a_circle sistemasc.net Sistema, S.C. | |

One alternative may be to put a breakpoint on the line (click in the gutter) and then view the value in the Local Variables window (Ctrl-Alt-L). -- Tim Young Elevate Software www.elevatesoft.com |

What you're seeing is basically a "preview". << This is for Tim: Thanks for adding the debugger. Would be nice have it in procedures/functions. (Of course, I can extract code into an script (declaring input parameters as fixed code vars) and debug there) >> Procedures/functions and Step Into functionality will be coming later, along with more detailed items like watches, expression evaluation, conditional breakpoints, and viewing the details of more complex types like cursors (row data). -- Tim Young Elevate Software www.elevatesoft.com |

I've found the bug in my script when I spotted a space where no space should be Now I know I'll just swear at it. Weird though isn't it. Are there any other disappearing characters you know of? << Weird though isn't it. Are there any other disappearing characters you know of? >> It's not disappearing, it's just that a highlighted line uses a white on <color> scheme that makes it slightly hard to make out the underline. But, it's definitely visible. -- Tim Young Elevate Software www.elevatesoft.com |
