Invalid login trys are not saved in log file. It's right?
All invalid logins, unauthorized IP accessing and so on should be saved in log, IMHO, as DBISAM server does. Tiago Ameller tiago put_an-a-_in_a_circle sistemasc.net Sistema, S.C.

<< Invalid login trys are not saved in log file. It's right? >> Correct. << All invalid logins, unauthorized IP accessing and so on should be saved in log, IMHO, as DBISAM server does. >> I'll correct this for 2.02. -- Tim Young Elevate Software www.elevatesoft.com |

<< Invalid login trys are not saved in log file. It's right? And, just to clarify, invalid *logins* are logged to the log manager, only blocked IP addresses or invalid encryption settings are not logged. -- Tim Young Elevate Software www.elevatesoft.com |

Tim,
>Actually, this is a little more involved than I thought, so it may not make >it into 2.02. And, just to clarify, invalid *logins* are logged to the log >manager, only blocked IP addresses or invalid encryption settings are not >logged. I meant the case an user inputs valid login name but bad password. Or when login retry count is raised. Currently I can't make log to save any of both cases. You know, my goal is get a text log file in order to check intrussion tentatives with an automated regular grep. I understand creating a log text file and maintain it not truncated is beyond EDB features and it's my own work. Tiago Ameller tiago put_an-a-_in_a_circle sistemasc.net Sistema, S.C.

<< I meant the case an user inputs valid login name but bad password. Or when login retry count is raised. Currently I can't make log to save any of both cases. >> Go into the server interface (System Tray, Right-Click on EDB Server Icon, Restore), click on the Stop Server task link, click on the Edit Server Options link, and under the Configuration tab, make sure that the Information, Warning, and Error check boxes are checked for the Logging section. -- Tim Young Elevate Software www.elevatesoft.com |
