Data-aware Rich Text component? |

Dale Derix | Hello:
Just curious how everyone else is handling RTF fields? I'm creating a comments field which will support limited RTF text. I am considering using either the DevExpress rtf component, or WPTools or TRichView data aware components connected to a CLOB. Thanks, Dale |

I use WPTools. It has the advantage that it will handle plain text, rtf and html. The html isn't up to full web browser standards but its the best editir for that I've seen. Support is reasonable, not as good as here, but lots better than other places and the component itself is very comprehensive. It has its own spell checker and supports my favourite - Addict. How limited is the rtf you're going to allow? You may find a simple RichEdit is all you need. Roy Lambert |

WPTools does a lot, but I still find it frustrating at times, especially when it comes to documentation. HTML is not so much an issue for me, but tables are, and they always seem a little quirky to me (in WPTools). Since I'm working on a brand new project now, I figured that now is the time to explore any alternatives that are out there. Have you encountered any issues with WPTools working toghether with ElevateDB? Thanks, Dale PS: As a newbie to ElevateDB/Client-Server/SQL and so on, your numerous posts have been a great help to me. Thanks for your contributions to this forum. |

Not yet I know what you mean about the documentation - almost up to standard programmers (read the source) standard. Tables are a bit of a bugger whichever component you use. Over the years I've looked at all (I think) of the tools out there and with all its quirks I think WPTools is still ahead of the pack. Are you going to get the new Addict? Roy Lambert |

Dale Derix | <<Are you going to get the new Addict?>> Yes, I ordered it this morning. I need it primarily for Delphi 2009 support. |
