Using different Builds of EDB 2.02 |

Ulrich Wolf | I have customers that use EDB-Server 2.02 Build 10 and now there is 2.02 Build 11 available.
My questions: 1. Is it necessary to update the Customers EDB-Server, if I want to use Build 11 in our application? 2. Is it possible to use different Builds in Server and Application? 3. Is it planned or intended, that there will come Build 12? 4. What Build should be the final Build for 2.02? Thanks! Ulrich Wolf |

Is it possible to use different Builds in Server and Application? Yes, but like question 1 I don´t suggest this. > 3. Is it planned or intended, that there will come Build 12? Since any other bugs appear just before 2.03 release then you will have a Build 12 > 4. What Build should be the final Build for 2.02? See the last answer. Eduardo |

Tim Young [Elevate Software] Elevate Software, Inc. timyoung@elevatesoft.com | Ulrich,
Eduardo's answers are 100% correct, so please refer to them. The new builds are to correct bug fixes, so as long as there are required bug fixes, then a new build will be released. -- Tim Young Elevate Software www.elevatesoft.com |

Ulrich Becker | Tim,
> Eduardo's answers are 100% correct, so please refer to them. Are you saying that the EDBSrvr.exe has to be replaced with each build so that it matches the version in the application? Uli |

>Are you saying that the EDBSrvr.exe has to be replaced with each build >so that it matches the version in the application? No just that its a good idea to do so. When ElevateDB has matured and stabilised to the level of DBISAM and the bugs are really exotic then ignore the new version. At present new features are being introduced rapidly and as a consequence there are bugs. The build versions may contain new features but will (almost) certainly contain bug fixes. If non of those bug fixes affect you, and there are no architectural issues mandating an upgrade, you're safe to ignore the new build either for development or out in the wild as a server at a client. Uli Becker | Roy,
> No just that its a good idea to do so. Thanks. Good to know, because an update of a server is sometimes not that easy on the client's machines. Uli |
