Has anyone created a DB engine for using EDB in Fastreports?  Steve
Forbes mentioned working on it a year ago but if he ever released it, I
haven't been able to find it.

I have one that I've been using with EDB2, FR4, and D2006.  I need to make
sure that I have not broken it with all of the other stuff that I've been
doing lately and then I'll post it in the binaries group tomorrow.

Thanks very much.  User-contributed code like this saves me a lot of time
that I can use working on new stuff for EDB. Smiley

Just curious as I have never 'missed' such an engine.
All my reports are based on queries rather than direct table access.

What benefits does a specific engine confer?

Rather than the binaries can you post it into the extensions ng please. That makes it much easier for people to find in a years time.

Sure, listening to a suggestion is the least I can do in return. Smiley

The engine allows you to define and create a TEDBQuery within
FastReport's report definition file, and set the query's parameters via
the report's "dialog pages".  Since the files are small, it's easy to
email new reports to customers without having to recompile the main app.
It's convenient if you have to do many ad hoc reports (or if you have
to go through several drafting cycles before your customer tells you
what they really want the report to show).

Thanks Charles, that's helpful.

Then I guess that if one gave the user access to the report designer
it would be close to essential.
