I think I have it sussed but just out of interest. Sometimes when I click the dropdown on a TEDBQuery etc SessionName only shows Default and not the session defined on my datamodule. I think its when the query is on a form that inherits from another form in the project. To show the other session the datamodule has to be open in the IDE.

Opinions, reasons etc?

It's just the way the design-time environment works - it requires that any
referenced form or module be open in order to reference its components.

I don't think that's right. Its something I've noticed certainly from D6 and now in D2006. With some forms I have to have the datamodule open with others I don't. I thought I'd finally sused it with the inherited forms thing but now I'm not to sure.

Its not a problem its just one of those little things that annoys.

It may be dependent upon something else that I'm not aware of, but any time
that I've seen such an issue, opening the form or data module solved the
problem.

It certainly does. I've been doing just that for years. I'd simply like to know why.
