Your teaser for V2 started me thinking. One question that floated across my mind was I know locate will use an available index on a table but does this also apply on a result set and if so in what circumstances? Roy Lambert |

<< Your teaser for V2 started me thinking. One question that floated across my mind was I know locate will use an available index on a table but does this also apply on a result set and if so in what circumstances? >> Yes, it also applies to a result set. The presence of an index is dependent upon the query type (sensitive or insensitive) and whether or not an insensitive result set has an ORDER BY or GROUP BY. ORDER BY and GROUP BY use temporary indexes to satisfy their purposes, as indicated by the query plan. -- Tim Young Elevate Software www.elevatesoft.com |
