Just thought I'd try the "proper" system

From a previous post of your's

<<2) You don't need to use FileExists to test for backups - just query the
Backups table in the Configuration database to get a list of backups.
There's no need to mess with backup extensions, etc.>>

In EDBManager I a) created a store b) ran a backup then c) select * from backups

Result was 0 rows.

One of us is doing something wrong - probably me.

Roy,

Did you indicate to EDB in what store your backups are, by executing
  SET BACKUP STORE TO <StoreWhereYouHaveTheBackups>
before selecting from the "Backups" table?
