Cannot Connect to Remote Sessions |

Richard Harding Wise Nutrition Coaching | I can no longer connect to remote Elevate DB sessions on my 2 computer network - use to work and I do not know what has happened.
When using EDB Manager to connect to a remote session, I receive an ElevateDB Error #1100 - A connection to server at 192.168.0.4 cannot be established. (Socket error: Connect attempt failed because connected party did not properly respond after a period of time or established connection failed because connected host failed to respond). The network log shows 3 SYN messages from the source machine arriving on 192.168.0.4 with destination port number 12010. The second message arrives 3 seconds after the first. The third message arrives 8 seconds after the first. There are no messages going back to the source machine. The ElevateDB Server is running and can connect to sessions that originated on the same computer. The session parameters (except for the IP Address) are set to the default parameters. Can someone offer any suggestions? Many thanks Richard Harding |

Jan Ferguson Data Software Solutions, Inc. Team Elevate | Richard,
You don't indicate which version of EDB you are using. You might want to check your firewall settings. I had the same thing occur once on a normal upgrade of EDB and it turned out that somehow my EDB firewall settings had changed. I unblocked the firewall setting and all was fine after that. -- Jan Ferguson [Team Elevate] Richard Harding wrote: > I can no longer connect to remote Elevate DB sessions on my 2 > computer network - use to work and I do not know what has happened. > > When using EDB Manager to connect to a remote session, I receive an > ElevateDB Error #1100 - A connection to server at 192.168.0.4 cannot > be established. <<What version are you using ? Is this reproducible on a different machine, or locally with 127.0.0.1 ? >> I am using version 2.03b19. It works locally with 127.0.0.1. I can also connect to a session on the server machine using it's IP address 192.168.0.4 I have checked my firewall settings - I believe they are OK. And the network log on the EDB Server server machine shows 3 SYN messages arriving on 192.168.0.4 (the EDB server machine) with destination port number 12010. There are no messages going back to the source machine. Richard Harding |

Uli Becker | Richard,
in most cases the culprit is the firewall. What happens when you just disable the firewall completely? Uli |

<<What happens when you just disable the firewall completely?>> I do not have a software firewall. The Netgear router firewall rules allows all outgoing messages. It also allows messages to be received on port 12010 from the correct source machine. The network log shows 3 SYN messages from the source machine arriving on 192.168.0.4 with destination port number 12010 so I thought that would remove the blame from the router firewall. Richard Harding Wise Nutrition Coaching | Hi Tim
<<Are you possibly trying to connect to an internal IP address through an external IP address from within the same network ?>> No, it is not going through an external IP address. I will get someone to come in and look at the network and router. (It was working not very long ago - I am almost nearly certain that nothing has been changed.) Richard Harding |

Richard Harding Wise Nutrition Coaching | I have finally managed to get my remote sessions all working. Trend Micro was causing grief on the client machine. I was concentrating on the server firewall. There are so many places for messages to be stopped.
Thank you to everyone who offered suggestions. Richard Harding |
