There's a new multimedia example project up on the web site:

http://www.elevatesoft.com:8081/multimedia/multimedia.html

It will be included with the final release as an example project, of course.

Is the multimedia example provided with the preview supposed to work from within the IDE? When I run it, it looks OK. I can navigate through the albums and songs. But when I hit the play button, the play icon changes to a pause icon (all good so far), but then there is no sound. (When I run the demo from the Elevatesoft website, it works fine so it is not something dumb like the sound being off.)

Using EWB preview 2 build 7, on Windows 8.1.

Same here, but I think there is not really an audio file provided with the demo.
TMainForm.PlayTrack contains an URL that is empty.
DataSet Tracks.Columns['Sample'].AsString only contains "(Blob)";

In the online version, the files are all short clips the same size, so
I guess there are copyright issues and distributing them would be a
problem. Just put your own MP3s in...?

We have to strip out the audio because it makes the installation be 170MB+
in size.  This is noted in the manual for EWB 2, but you would be forgiven
for not relying on the EWB 2 documentation yet. Smile

Haven't seen you around in a bit, hope things are going well for you.  I
haven't been on the DBISAM newsgroups for a while, so it may be *my* absence
that should be noted. Smile

It would take a legal case to determine if we're actually infringing, since
it's often a matter of how the copyright holder views the usage.  But, since
we're using them strictly as an example, have kept they're original
packaging/structure intact, have kept the tracks to ~30 seconds, and we're
not using them in another creative work (song/video), I believe our usage
would be determined to be okay by the copyright holder.  At some point,
though, I'll probably switch everything out for something more "generic".

Indeed - when I saw it I thought that it was "interesting", which is
why I dug into what I could actually get from it, and came to the
conclusion that apart from getting me to listen to music I'd not
normally, and be interesting in buying it, you aren't "giving anything
away" in your use.

If anything, it might be worth having a label on the display saying
"this demo will only play a short extract of the songs" so that no
lawyer gets warmed up. And in the project demo, just have a "beep"
track or something so people can see it did actually work.

All minor though.

I'll just record myself singing something short, that'll get everyone to
stop clicking play quick enough. Smile

Maybe we could team up and do an album. Probably be better than caffeine, although perhaps more harmful. Smile
