Thread Getting Started with EWB3

Finally got a purpose for using EWB3, so I downloaded and installed on a new VM. Starting the IDE it shows a message that I need to sort certificates. Okay, fine, I'll look at the help on how to do that. So the IDE opens and there is nothing at all in the help about how to do the certificate. Nothing in the index either.

There is a Getting Started section, that has system requirements, but that doesn't mention the certificate requirement, nor a link to how to sort it.

I figure it might have been in the release notes I skipped past, but no.

Okay, restart and review the message. I find the ewbcert utility, and run that. It offers me options about things I might want to use. But no advice. No "just make it work" option.

Now, I'm not incapable, and I can peruse the newsgroups to find what is what, and I've seen various things about which system and whether I need admin privileges, but this is not a friendly user experience for the new user. Or anyone really.

I hope that this can be improved to provide the required guidance in the next update.

(Hope all is well, and stay safe!)

I just thought it might be worth seeing if the web site has further info, and there is indeed a "Before Using the product" page now in the online version of the manual.

You could make this way better by having a clear link to that page at the top of the release notes page. Then people like me would see it and go straight to what is needed.

Thanks! Matthew
