PhoneGap? |

MarkB | I've been evaluating SmartMobileStudio which is basically the same concept as Elevate Web Builder, an IDE which cross compiles to JS with a framework very similar to the Delphi VCL built atop HTML5 But they appear to be more focused on Mobile apps.
As a dbisam user, I'd rather use EWB but I don't know enough yet to determine if it will fit my needs. My requirements are to create native iOS and Android apps. Is this the general direction you plan on going? If you are not familiar with PhoneGap, from what I understand it allows you to cross compile Javascript directly into iOS applications. |

Matthew Jones | I too would like to know. EWB is, to my mind, a much better polished and more
focused product, putting Delphi in the browser. But mobile via PhoneGap should be a fairly high priority - I sort of presume that it is on the roadmap. The alternative seems to be much more delphi with a canvas and more DIY layout, which is excellent for many things, but involves more work for the basic form stuff. EWB fits my needs a lot closer, and Elevate Software have shown they can deliver quality. /Matthew Jones/ |

Raul Team Elevate | EWB is pure javascript so it's Technically Phonegap cmopatible already - main issues right now affecting this are viewport support (for screen size control) and the theming (to control sizes and font etc). Tim is working on both based on his various comments on NGs but not sure of any ETAs at this time - my feeling is sooner rather than later. The other aspect of Phonegap integration is access to native APIs - since EWB does support external JS this shoudl also be doable but have not tried. Raul NB! AFAIK Phonegap is not really native - it's a native wrapper (phonegap launcher) around a device webview control. On 1/28/2013 5:50 AM, (Matthew Jones) wrote: > I too would like to know. The main constraint right now is my time, so I've got to prioritize and the priorities for mobile are getting EWB apps working well in the mobile browsers first, and then adding external interfaces for PhoneGap later. MarkB | What with Embarcadero offering beta now for iOS with XE3, maybe mobile/phonegap isn't as important. Just ordered my upgrade to XE3 so I can get the beta.
I still need a website with mobile capabilities that can as closely as possible mimic mobile apps though. Is deploying as an ISAPI/ IIS in there? Sorry, haven't taken the time yet to do a complete deep dive. << "Tim Young [Elevate Software]" wrote: Mark, It (PhoneGap support) is something that we've got plans on addressing at some point. However, you can use the EWB Web Server as a second web server along with IIS for serving up dataset requests only. If you have any other questions, please let me know. Matthew Jones | Just to comment that I can get a basic ElevateWeb application running in Adobe Air.
Basic instructions are at http://help.adobe.com/en_US/air/build/WS5b3ccc516d4fbf351e63e3d118666ade46-7ecc.html and then I replaced the html file with the html of EWB. A more complicated application fails to build because I'm using window.localStorage, but that is probably fixable easily. The key is that it does work at least in part. Will be playing with this further, particularly when the next update is out. /Matthew Jones/ |

Matthew Jones | I'm looking forward to the next update so I can adapt to the device width etc. I
shall not ask how it is going though. 8-) /Matthew Jones/ (How is it going?) (Darn, couldn't help it!) |

Tim Young [Elevate Software] Elevate Software, Inc. timyoung@elevatesoft.com | Matthew,
<< (How is it going?) >> I'm starting on the docs today. All of the coding is done, so it shall see the light of day soon. This one's just been a doozy, with requirement after requirement being added and the browsers, especially IE, just not cooperating very much. Tim Young Elevate Software www.elevatesoft.com |
