Regarding Elevate Web Builder Modules - Version 2.05 Build 2, is RAD Studio 10S (Delphi Win32) for the Starter edition?

No Started is for Berlin so you need "RAD Studio 10B (Delphi Win32)"

Thanks!

I grabbed a personal copy and emailed my friends as well (thought most
have moved away from delphi and likely won't bother).

My efforts are split between EWB and Delphi.

The next version: Godzilla will also target Linux64 for servers (no GUI).

I still do not trust them though. You see, two years ago my laptop crashed and when I reinstalled Delphi 2007 it refused to be Registered! I had to call the company and speak to someone for him to give me 2 more installation. Like it was a favor they were doing me for MY software that I purchased.

Thing is this - it was a weekend and I had to wait days to call their office. That made a total case for me to go with Lazarus even at the expense of not having my cherished TMS components.

It is only because of EWB I downloaded the XE10 Starter.

Now, if Embarcadero would keep the Starter edition free (to woo new devs), and price the Professional edition at $282 then I see a huge wave of developers buying into Delphi and RETURNING in droves!

Delphi/Lazarus/Object Pascal is simply one of the best development languages/environment there is.The versatility, rapid app development is incredible.

Yes - this no doubt will be useful for many.

However, due this being ARC only it's a mixed bag for us (15+ years of
existing delphi code). Our customer demand for Linux server is not
strong enough compared to work involved so ...

They have also clawed back install counts over the years for some reason.

We have been using Delphi strictly within VMware VMs for some 10+ years
now so for us this has not been an problem. We're doing this mostly due
to large number of 3rd party components - reinstalling everything would
be major PITA.

This promo is actually perfect for that.

It would be absolutely hilarious if majority of people grabbing this
would later say (in some survey) they go it strictly to write EWB
modules Smile

I personally think that ship has already sailed. IMHO they would need to
make mobile dev pack and server side (datasnap) cheap/affordable to get
new people.

However I'm not convinced this would be a sustainable business model for
them.

I'm not even sure what this promo is for - is it to get new people or to
bring existing ones (ones with D2006/2007 or some earlier XE) up to new
version so they might then move to pro in the future again after seeing
this version in action !?
