Hi Tim

To provide fine control of scroll bars on a panel:
Is it possible to have some new properties on a scroll bar panel ?

e.g.

sbLeft

sbRight

sbTop

sbBottom

instead of / as well as sbVertical and sbHorizontal

Thanks

Kamran,

That's not actually what is normally thought of as scrollbars, so my quick answer is no.

What are you trying to do, exactly ? Hide one or more of the scrollbar buttons ?

Hi Tim

Yes that is right !

e.g. I cannot see a way of say putting a vertical scroll on a panel on the left hand side only.
(In fact if I was "Left Handed" I might even prefer that.!)

My scenario is:

There are basically 2 panels ( Left Panel for left half of screen, Right Panel for Right half of the screen
These contain buttons that the user will make use of using "both" his left and right hands for efficiency of selection.
The vertical scroll on the right takes up much needed "space" that I would rather use to maximize
the buttons size on the panel and so help the user in selecting from the right without having to skip over the scroll bar to select the buttons on the panel.

I hope that makes some sort of sense and gives you an idea of why that would be useful.

Thanks

Kamran

Kamran,

as Tim already stated: what you want is not standard and a quite exotic
scenario.
I'm not aware of any software diplaying a scrollbar on the left side.

We should not delay the development of EWB with this kind of requests.

Hi Uli

Yes ... I agree . 2.07 is top priority!

But this is just something to consider
when Tim has maybe some more time after 2.07.

It would perhaps be great for "All Left Handed" people I think !

Cheers

I'm not sure I really understand this - don't you want both to scroll together? Anyway, I was going to suggest just dropping a scroll bar onto a panel and aligning it left, but on checking there is no independent scroll bar. I suspect though you could fairly easily specify a new panel type with the scroll bar on the left.

Microsoft OneNote will display a vertical scroll bar on the left if you
move the page list to the left of the display. I use it that way.

I agree that it's probably not high-priority but positionable scroll
bars would add to the appeal of an already useful tool.
