I know that way back in EWB V1.02 b2 these were hard coded to US
English, and that Tim said Locale detection was on the list but we were
not to ask when it would be delivered.

It seems to me that this is still the case in EWB2.
But as we are not allowed to ask about delivery, can I instead ask if
my observation is correct?  <bg>

You are correct.

Everything will start happening a lot faster now with EWB 2, so expect things like to just show up in an upcoming minor release.  I'm actually doing a pretty good job of starting to clear the backlog for EWB.
