Steve Forbes Team Elevate | Hi Henri,
Chrome is a top notch product that allows you to continue using your Delphi/ObjectPascal knowledge in the .NET environment. RemObjects (who produce Chrome) is another company with stellar support (just like ElevateSoft), and a good vision for the future, they will be around for a long time. The only drawback with Chrome is that it is restricted to .NET -- Best Regards Steve [Team Elevate] "Henri" <maash@home.nl> wrote in message news:96AE2899-6B71-4F24-BB1E-95F8891BF0AB@news.elevatesoft.com... > Jose, > See my experience below... > Henri > > "Jose Eduardo Helminsky" <contato@hpro.com.br> schreef in bericht > news:62256808-526C-4552-B66C-A2AAAE1A8801@news.elevatesoft.com... >>I do not know the future for a company called Borland or Inprise or >>CodeGear. Lance Rasmussen Jazzie Software Team Elevate | I don't know that Codegear is necessarily advertising that the applications
built with D2007 will clock in faster than D7. I think a lot of it will have to do with any third party components. Doing a hello world application pretty much runs about the same. However, D2007 has been built with Vista compatability (running it under) and has many things underneath that will provide a better UI using ComCtrls6 with base components as well as several other things. That's one of the more highlighted reasons I upgrade is having the compiler / RTL support for the newer OS's. Every few years (or months?) someone questions whether Borland (or now CodeGear) will last much longer. They've been around for over 20 years and still have not only a steadfast following, but also a roadmap for future enhancements. I think they are listening more to their customers (us developers) than they have for a long time. There's no reason (IMHO) to question their existance and continued product update for the foreseeable future. I moved a project from Delphi 6 to Delphi 2005 a couple of years ago. It was hard because of all the bugs and the new interface, but worth it in the long run. D2006 was a welcome relief, and is very solid and works well for the Win32 development I do. I also use D2007 (at a different company) and they are both solid and very similar. The support for new development enhancements and Windows features are very much worth the effort to upgrade your projects. -- David Cornelius corneliusconcepts.com custom designed software |

"Henri" | Hallo Steve,
Because my Delphi programming is an hobby of mine and only when i have an interesting hobbyproject i program. I also have times i do not program for months. So i always have to take the learningcurve again (although that goes quickly) and look for as few extra components as possible and also for the easyist ones like DBISAM. Thats what keeping me away from elevateDB sofar. I also need good online help with examples, sofar Delphi2007 did not help me with that. Yesterday i installed helpupdate 3 (apr '08). A quick browsing through this updated help gives me hope again, because i saw many code-examples returned. For now i stick with Delphi, because two programmingenviroments for a hobbyist like me is one to many en to expensive. And yes i have again an interesting hobbyproject again... Development of an energiemanagementtool for wastewater compagnies, so i'm half way on the learningcurve again. Arnd Baranowski | Why do you think that applications should run faster?
