EzSDB is a Spatial DataBase engine that facilitates managing spatial
data in Applications developed with EzGIS Components, on the next DataBases:

    ORACLE and ORACLE SPATIAL,
    Microsoft SQL Server,
    Borland INTERBASE,
    Microsoft Access
    DBISAM
    Flash Filer
    Nexus DB
For connecting Client with Server, it can use Client Database Engine
or using Indy Server

Comming soon so they say but what is it ?
Spatial Database ???????????????????????

Hi Rita,

Ow ya goin mate?

This is one definition:

a spatial database is a collection of spatially referenced data that acts as
a model of reality
a.. a database is a model of reality in the sense that the database
represents a selected set or approximation of phenomena
b.. these selected phenomena are deemed important enough to represent in
digital form
c.. the digital representation might be for some past, present or future
time period (or contain some combination of several time periods in an
organized fashion)
Here a URL full of references on spatial databases

Spatial means it can hold 2D information (geographical, for example) and
can index it. Regular index is 1D, selecting range from A to Z. 2D index
can select square subrange [A..B][C..D]. This is if you want to locate
an object within a given rectangle. You can't do that (fast) using regular indexes.

It can be said a bit more abstract. A spatial database is a system that
integrates the possiblity to add indices that can be query on a "range base"
and with approximation. Mostly it's used in GIS applications to e.g. find all
database entries that are located in a certain area "approximately". It also
includes the possibility to calculate a "distance" between two records, again
this is mostly used for GIS info systems.

Recently the technology is also tried and used in search engines for content
based comparisons with distances being defined (partly dynamically) between
contexts and words (or other contexts).
