Roy Lambert NLH Associates Team Elevate | Does anyone know a way to stop Windows from being helpful?
I have a live app (TMaN) and development on the same PC, with icons for both on the desktop. If I clean up the development directory before saving it (delete all .dcu's .exe's .~'s etc) and then click on the development icon good old Windows HELPFULLY alters it to point at the live .exe and hence data. Arghhhhhh!!!!!!!!! Roy Lambert |

"Roj Ash" | Just a thought...
Presumably windows works out where to point the icon from its name (Tman or Shortcut to TMan.exe?). Maybe if you renamed the icon to semothing like TMan Development, the problem would go away? |

Interesting guess but already one shortcut is called TMaN and the other Testing. Thanks for trying. Roy Lambert |

No idea how to do the job properly, but how about a little indirection.
Instead of an icon on the desktop, why not have a good old-fashioned batch file on the desktop that runs the app? --Bill Sparrow-- | |
