Jon Lloyd Duerdoth | I just did a run using the trial version (Snapshot.exe)
- source disk approx 78G - destination ended up about 60G - about 113 minutes on a P4 3.0G machine - verification took longer (about 170 minutes) - the default setting created 92 CD size files Jon Jon Lloyd Duerdoth wrote: > I just dropped them (him) a line with a question over the weekend > and got a response within a few hours. "Malcolm" | Thank goodness I don't have so much stuff on my machines!
My main (Delphi) machine has approx 16.8 GB which 'snaps' down to 9.6 GB from Windows over the LAN in 49 mins. |

"Malcolm" | Hi Ralf
I used the maximum. Before doing it I dialed up the various rates and looked at the estimated times. The times were quite close so I went for the max. However, I think the problem for me was doing it over the LAN. The basic estimate was (from memory) well under 1 hour - but I assume that would be for an image to a local drive. Looking at my server's disk light during the process the TI writes were at distinct intervals. Using DS the writes are much more frequent and I suspect that accounts for the difference I have observed. I did not try either app to a local drive. DS is clearly a lean app. It does not have a flashy GUI and it does not provide an image viewer - instead it will mount the image as a virtual drive and let you use any viewer such as Windows Explorer. The actual .exe is about 192Kbytes, the full install is about 2MB which includes the data for building a rescue disk. Malcolm |
