I'm finding it impossible to install the TMS help into D2006. anyone know of a viewer for M$'s "upgraded" help system. Preferably free.

On the positive side Tim's installed dead easy.

Roy,

I just run the appropriate .bat file and it seems to work for me.

Roy,

I thought I saw you lurking on the TMS newsgroup.  I've been slowly
moving in some of TMS's stuff.  Their new UI stuff for Vista looks quite
nice and I was able to make somewhat of a mockup of Office 2007.

I'm still heavy with LMD, which have been pretty solid.  TMS, tho does a
good job.

I had same problems with help file.  You only run one or two of the
batch files, not all of them.

Its pretty stuff, but I do have to echo the comments of a lot of people - the documentation stinks. At one point I was seriously thinking of just writing the cost off, and I'm a Yorkshireman (we taught the Scots to be skinflints Smiley

Its even worse (maybe) when you can't get help up and running.

One thing that's baffling me is I have a different set of files from Tim and from Bruno

Tim:       hxc, hxi, hxs, hxt

Bruno:    hxi, hxs, hxx

I would have thought that Help 2.0 (may its creator die a slow and painful death) would require the same set regardless.

I will double-echo that. I also get constant AV's with some of the
components, but it is still an impressive set.

Lol Roy...  yep.

I live across lake from "uncle" Bill....   I'll throw a rock at his
window for you...  lol.

I agree.  Help 2.0 is unique...

Ahh..   a local(well.. close) guy with both.   very cool.

I haven't hit any AV's yet, but I'm not fully using their stuff yet.

I just ended a two-week effort at trying to solve problems on a form with
TMS' StaticMenu, two TTIWDatePicker components and a TTIWAdvWebGrid
component, among other things. I've had problems with the latter before.
Everything worked OK until the Dec. 6 update, then WebApplication.NewWindow
wouldn't work (but AddToInitProc would). Updated Tuesday and still the
problem persisted. Finally gave up and rebuilt the form from scratch. That
solved it. Have had to do this before with the grids, particularly on forms
that used two of them. There are some strange interactions with these
components.

The grids in particular are very sophisticated but can be very difficult to
implement, partly due to the docs.

He & Balmer both have houses here on Whidbey Island as well, for
weekend getaways I suppose. Uncle Bill's place is about a 1/4 mile from
my house, but he has yet to invite me over for a BBQ! Smile
