"TorB."
Hi!
The DBServer will not start as a service in Vista.
Is this correct, or is there something that I do not know?
Kind regards
TorB.

Vista is the first in a phased approach to remove desktop interactive
services. Out of the box Vista will not allow a dual purpose UI/service
application. You will need to turn on the "Interactive Service
Detection Service" for more detail google: "vista and desktop
interactive services"

I'll have to make sure to put that in a FAQ item.

According to the docs that service should turn on the first time a
desktop interactive service is used. But the Docs I was reviewer are
for RC2. They may have changed in the RTM version. But for the next
version of Windows (in 5 years or so Wink) the service will be gone and
the you'll have to breakout the ui from the server.

It will be broken out before then.  Having a UI with the service has been
problematic, at best, anyways. Smiley
