Unfortunately, the problem does not seem to be recreatable at will. Most backups restore just fine, once in a while they don't. Lovely, eh? The kind of thing that makes one seriously consider farming. Is it possible that it has something to do with tables being open with updates still not written to disk at the time you start the backup? IOW, that the disk file has changed between the time you start the backup and the time backup gets to that file? Stab in the dark... Robert |

Clive | HI TIm,
Im pretty sure the tables would not be corrupted before and after the backup, as my "Save" process 1. Closes all tables 2. Runs Backup 3. Reopens all Tables The 1 and only time I witnessed this was I saved the data using backup and then continued using the app just fine, Went to reopen the saved file and the restore stopped mid way with the error. Since reverting to B2, I havent seen any of these problems, and hopefully thats not coincedence. |

<< Is it possible that it has something to do with tables being open with updates still not written to disk at the time you start the backup? Stab in the dark... >> From what I have seen in Clive's backup that he sent me, the issue is that the decompression is resulting in a different number of bytes (and possibly the bytes themselves) than the backup. This, combined with the fact that the DBSYS backup/restore always works fine (D5) is leading me to believe that there is a compiler issue with the compression/decompression when mixing compiler versions and/or settings. -- Tim Young Elevate Software www.elevatesoft.com |

<< Since reverting to B2, I havent seen any of these problems, and hopefully thats not coincedence. >> Well, my guess would be that it is a coincidence. There haven't been any changes to the backup/restore in a while. -- Tim Young Elevate Software www.elevatesoft.com |
