Performance issue with DevExpress Scheduler |
Tue, Apr 8 2008 11:53 AM | Permanent Link |
Dale Derix | I'm trying to use DBISam with DevExpress Scheduler (v3). Loading and using a test
database of 5000 appointments over a network is very, very slow compared to doing the same thing with the BDE (which is not an option). The problem becomes unusable for customers attempting to access their calendar over a wireless connection. Load time over 100 mb network DBISAM: 20 secs BDE: 3 secs Load time over wireless connection (54mb): DBISAM: 1 minute, 20 seconds BDE: 13 secs I'm using DBISAM 4.25 build 7. I've tinkered with the MaxXXXXCount and MaxXXXXSize settings but have not seen much improvement. Btw, not using C/S mode. Any ideas and suggestions greatly appreciated as this is turning into a serious issue for us. Thanks Dale Derix Emerald Data, Inc. |

If not, then you're not comparing apples to apples since the BDE is not performing any locking or multi-user concurrency actions whatsoever. -- Tim Young Elevate Software www.elevatesoft.com |

Load time from the wireless laptop is now only about 4 seconds. I'm stumped. (which admittedly is not hard to do) Dale |

<< I tried your suggestion and the BDE version ran faster. Load time from the wireless laptop is now only about 4 seconds. >> If the time with Local Share set to True is anywhere near the same time as before, then you aren't running with Local Share=True. You need to make sure that all instances of the BDE are unloaded before the new settings will take effect. A good way to ensure this is to reboot the client machine on which the BDE is installed. -- Tim Young Elevate Software www.elevatesoft.com |
