Is there a reason to use CS vs filesharing in an environment using multiple Citrix machines (or just one) to access the data? The data is on a
different server, but they are/would be located in the same area and running on a ups. Could there be potential problems from not using CS in
this environment?

No, as long as they're all server machines and you have some control over
them in terms of improper power-downs, then they will be fine.  We have
several customers using DBISAM in this way with a small, high-speed, LAN
where several servers are sharing the same database(s).
