Because both V3 and V4 use the same component names its not easy, and its not possible to have them both in the same project.

What are you trying to achieve?

I have many projects which are using V3. I think installing both versions
will be the best way to upgrade project by project.

Its a question that's been asked a lot. This is the start of one thread about it

Hi,

I'm trying to load both DBISam 4 into my IDE, whilst keeping DBISam 3. I
understand that both packages can't be loaded simultaneously, but was under
the impression, that I should be able to turn them on and off in the
"Install Packages..." dialog.

The problem I have is this. If I turn off V3, and turn on V4 (by ticking the
checkboxes), I get the error "Cannot load package 'db401d7r.' It contains
unit 'dbisampw,' which is also contained in package 'db324d74'.

Is their a simple fix to this?

Thanks & Regards

Adam.

You can get the full thread by searching the web newsgroup. It'll give you some ideas. It also mentions a tool posted into the binaries.

Heinz,

<< is it possible to install both then v3 and the v4? >>

You can't have them both active at the same time, but you can switch back
and forth between them by modifying the active packages and the compiler
search paths (both project and library).
