<< Got it, I was thinking like DBISAM instead of ElevateDB (I don´t know yet). >> I understand. It's a bit of a shift in mind-set, but I think you'll like the new stuff. -- Tim Young Elevate Software www.elevatesoft.com |

>As for using a DLL instead of an EXE, that >really comes down to a religious issue. My religion is "though shalt ship only one file" but I'm open to conversion >it comes in an easy-to-use >external/word generator/text filter module template (TCustomModule >descendants) that you can start by using File/New and selecting them from >the Object Repository in Delphi. That sounds cool. You may want to think about a new newsgroup for addins so that we, as a community, only write one html stripper, one rtf stripper etc >Yes, but I was talking about the *internal* design of ElevateDB, not whether >it is easy for you. So, the important fact is how easy it is for me, not how easy it is for you <vbg> - ps I guessed it was the internals *before* I wrote the message >It would be very easy to do basic Pascal and VB versions since >the only thing that would need to change is the parsing. Now you are into heresy! Roy Lambert |

<< That sounds cool. You may want to think about a new newsgroup for addins so that we, as a community, only write one html stripper, one rtf stripper etc >> I was thinking the same thing. We've got one internally for stripping out text from UU encoding and MIME encoding, but they could probably use some improvement. It will be really nice to have everyone be able to share their PDF filters, etc. along with language-specific word generators for text indexing. << So, the important fact is how easy it is for me, not how easy it is for you <vbg> >> Sometimes yes, sometimes no, particularly when making it easy for you makes it also buggy for you. << Now you are into heresy! >> Which part - Pascal or VB ? -- Tim Young Elevate Software www.elevatesoft.com |
