I saw that as well. Unfortunately I've had my pocket money cut.

Just wait a bit longer like in the 80's when
IBM DOS boxes £3,800 got cloned by
the likes of Amstrad's 1512 for £800.
I got earache from Kenneth on that one
as he worked for IBM we had one of
their PCDOS boxes at home but Rita
couldnt touch it. So I bought a 1512 then
the 1640 and Kenneth could not touch.
The last box I bought cost £450 dual
booting WinXP pro + Ubuntu. That was
this year my next box will be interesting.
Win 7 + Win XP + Ubuntu I have Vista
on a Tosh laptop but hardly use it.
Anyday now some kid in his dads workshop
will hook up a couple of chips in such a
configuration all the big guys will say why
didnt we think of that. Then you and the
rest of us will have an all singing SSD
puter maybe with the MB and OS burnt
in to a pluggable portion. All for under £1k

Hi Rita,

I thought we had that now, about two months ago I brought my new computer:

Intel 64 bit Quad CPU Q9550 @ 2.83Ghz
8 GB RAM @ 1333MHz
1TB Hard disk (for System)
1 32GB SDD for data
2 x Gigabit Ethernet

The processor and RAM return a Windows Experience index of 7.2 on Windows 7

All cost less than £1000 from http://www.ebuyer.com (although I brought
it as seperate parts and had it built in house)

That is a nice system!

Just a question - have you tried running system (windows/swap/various search
indexes) from SSD and have data on 1TB hdd.

Should make windows even snappier.

Hi Raul,

I have not tried that as the system does just about everything
instantly. Smiley

When I compile my project now instead of taking 90 seconds like it did
with my old PIV 2GHZ machine it takes 7 seconds, which is very nice.
