Lee Mc Cauley

I had a customer with this error.  I don't think it is a good one.  This happened during normal operation.

The table ********** is corrupt (Error reading header from disk)

Any help or should I contact Tim directly?

Thanks,
Lee

1, take a copy of the corrupted table
2. try repairing the table
3. let us know what repair tells you

It would also help if you told us the version number and if anything has changed recently

I've got your email and I'm looking into it this morning (I decided to do the support forums first).  For others, this error means that EDB had an issue reading a table header from disk.  The cause is normally a) a bad hard drive or network connectivity (if using file-sharing), or b) the file is actually truncated on disk.

Lee,

Follow-up:

Yeah, the dqevents.edbtbl table is empty.  Something deleted it and EDB recreated it with zero bytes.  When it does this, EDB will log a warning event in the logged events for EDB (SELECT * FROM Configuration.LogEvents).

The only thing you can do at this point is restore from a backup.

Is the customer running any AV software ?  If so, have them check to see if the database directory is getting scanned by the AV software.  If so, have them *exclude* the database directory from scanning and check the scanner history to see if the dqevents table files were quarantined or manipulated in any way during scanning.
