Hi Tim,

The single file format sounds good.

Will you provide a tool for upgrading databases from EDB2 to EDB3 format?

Mike,

Of course.  There will be a migrator that will migrate existing databases in a one-click fashion.  None of the code interfaces will change in any significant way - it will be very much like existing EDB 2.x with the TEDBEngine.BufferedFileIO property set to True.

Hi Tim,

I imagine that the single file format is scheduled for EDB 3.xx?

Along with the messaging layer, maybe? Smile

Mike

That is good news.

Will it also be possible to support both versions in the IDE (in my case Delphi)?

I would like also more compression & encryption types for blob: bzip, lzma and index/row compression.

Thank you

I didn't forget about this.  My original attempts at doing this with the current thread-per-connection model weren't particularly successful, so I need to revisit this and see if I can't get something working.

AES is coming, but I can't say for sure on any other compression types at this time.

That will probably be a bit more difficult, and you may need to do the "design-time package shuffle" in order to use both at the same time.

Nice, also think about adding hardware support for the supported CPU if it's possible.
