EDB Encryption Overhead? |
Mon, Mar 2 2009 6:39 AM | Permanent Link |
"Hedley Muscroft" | Just a quick question. With DBISAM4 I used to find that adding encryption to
tables tended to impact performance quite noticeably - especially on larger tables. Does anyone have any experience or comments as to the performance hit on encrypted databases in EDB? Thanks. |

<< Does anyone have any experience or comments as to the performance hit on encrypted databases in EDB? >> You're going to see similar results, although the compression is rewritten a bit in EDB, so there may be a few bits that are faster. But overall, expect to take a performance hit when using the crypto. -- Tim Young Elevate Software www.elevatesoft.com |

"Hedley Muscroft" | Thanks Tim - I think I'll do a bit of profiling to see if I can quantify the
overheads for my app. |
