I must complain. I've had to add a Sleep(50) after some background sql checking for new email and alarms because it was going to fast for my PostMessage driven indicators to register.

Ha. Smiley I had to do the same thing for the EDB Manager splash screen - the
load time was simply too quick and the splash screen just flashed on the
screen.

In my case it has a 'flash' splash screen, flashing only a white
background before being closed.  Blink and you missed it.  Surprised

Now I sit and stare I see it.

You might want to check out Peter Below's threaded splash screen example (just search for splash in the cg attachments ng)

That's the problem - I don't want it to execute *faster*, but rather
*slower*. Smiley If I pop up the splash screen, do the initialization, and
then kill the splash screen, you'll never see the splash screen at all.  I
have to put a delay in so that it stays up long enough to read what it is.

Its not just to allow things to keep going, but so that you can be sneaky as well. Display in the .dpr and hide in the main form say the first time the mouse is moved or anything clicked.

After reading this silly boy's thread, I looked for
the splash screen and yes it has one.
However when the server is not running you get
to see it more with an error message that the
server must be running. Then if you start the server
no splash, but if you close the server again no splash
as the edb manager must think the server is running.
So Rita thinks you must look into that first rather
than strangling your splash screen as thats not as
designed. Now get on with it and stop this nonsense.
