If you *want* us to study the splash screen contents *every* launch,
then yes, you need a delay.  But given the type of user, you might
find them (me) drumming their fingers and itching to get on with
their work. Surprised

As I can't see the content I don't know if it is stuff that could
just as easily go in the About box.  Surprised

I dropped my splash screens once things ran fast enough to tell the
user something *was* happening.

I'm not sure what you're saying - can you see the splash screen or not ? Smiley

Also, for the record, there's a 1 second delay for the splash screen, so I
don't think that falls into the realm of a significant delay.

In b9 my eyeballs say c1/10th of a second.

What about putting some wallpaper on the sql windows etc. If its done properly it will look good and not prevent the code from being read.

Before this thread I had never noticed a splash screen.  Only when I
then propped open my eyelids with sharpened cocktail sticks and
launched, did I notice a 'flash' screen.  A white, borderless
rectangle appears momentarily and then vanishes.  So, yes, I see it,
but, no, I don't see any content. <bg>

It's approx a second here - i had to do Camtasia capture to see it properly and it's shown for approx 16 frames (at 15 fps).

To actually see the content you have to put burning matches between your toes as well Smiley

Hmm, I'll have to see.  It might be doable, if done in a subtle enough way.

Ah!  I finally saw it!  The white rectangle, that is.

It must've been introduced in build 9--I was using build 8.
