Elevate Web Builder 2 Preview Build 3 Now Available |

Tim Young [Elevate Software] Elevate Software, Inc. timyoung@elevatesoft.com | I've uploaded the EWB 2 Preview Build 3.
It fixes the following bugs: 1) The Undo bug in the code editor is now fixed. 2) There was an issue where trying to focus any container that didn't contain any tab-able controls would result in a lockup of the browser. 3) Controls with a Text property (most bindable controls) would display the word "Text" at runtime, even though the Text property was set to "" (blank) at design-time. 4) The interface load times were very long during application startup. They should be much faster now. 5) The scrollbar thumbs no longer take up the entire scroll space for the scroll bar when the total scroll space is only slightly larger than the client space for a given control. This allows for using the scrollbar thumb to scroll, which wasn't possible before. 6) The TImage, TBrowser, and TPlugin controls now include the background image on the base element instead of the client element. This was reversed before, which made it impossible to modify the background and remove the default background image. 7) The OnChange event is now published for TCheckBox/TRadioButton controls. This was a bug - all editable controls have an OnChange event. 8) The various font selection combo boxes were incorrectly displaying non-TrueType/OpenType fonts, as well as vertical fonts. 9) The layout resets were not working correctly, preventing multiple layout resets within a given container. The layout reset sequence should be: a) Reset layout rectangle to last reset layout rectangle (or original) b) Consume any space for the current element c) Save the new layout rectangle as the last reset layout rectangle Part c) was *not* being done in the last build. 10) The OnCreate/OnDestroy events were not published for the TForm/TPaperForm controls. The following improvements/changes were made: 1) The data binding should now be working properly. 2) There is a new TDataSetToolBar component that is complete and works properly. There are also some new icons in the icon library for this toolbar. 3) The default height of most controls is now 34 pixels, instead of 32, in the default control interfaces. This was done to avoid cutting off the bottom of certain characters like 'g' or 'y' in single-line edit controls. 4) The TPage control now includes a Border property. 5) There are new designer options on the Designer tab of the Environment options, and they all work properly. You can control the designer grid color/size and the selection point color/size, among other options. 6) The HTML loader file compression is now enabled. Both the HTML loader file, and the control interfaces contained in it, and the JS code file are now compressed when you turn on the compression in the compiler. 7) There is now a data-bound controls example included with the installation. If you use the Install Example Applications option from the Help menu, it will be installed along with a dataset called "DataBound" that is used with it. This example shows how to use the new TDataSetToolBar, along with how to save/load datasets from local storage. Thanks, Tim Young Elevate Software www.elevatesoft.com |

Uli Becker | Tim,
> I've uploaded the EWB 2 Preview Build 3. Thanks. I am going to try some databse connections. In the columns editor the buttons to get the columns from a URL etc. are missing. Hopefully they will be available in the final version?! Uli |

<< I am going to try some databse connections. In the columns editor the buttons to get the columns from a URL etc. are missing. Hopefully they will be available in the final version?! >> No, they had to go because there isn't any way to do custom property editors anymore. Remember, the design-time environment is executing the same exact code that is executed at runtime, so certain types of native design-time customizations had to be removed. So you are saying, that I have to enter each field of the datasets manually? Hmmmm.... Uli |

Tim Young [Elevate Software] Elevate Software, Inc. timyoung@elevatesoft.com | Uli,
<< So you are saying, that I have to enter each field of the datasets manually? Hmmmm.... >> Of course not. You can still drag and drop a dataset from the DataSet Manager on to a form, and all of the columns will be populated. It's just the "grab the columns from a URL" functionality that is missing. Tim Young [Elevate Software] Elevate Software, Inc. timyoung@elevatesoft.com | Sergio,
<< Today I sent to your e-mail a new letter from another my e-mail, maybe my last one gone to spam or someever else >> Perhaps, but I asked Sam and she indicated that she did send you an email with instructions. It doesn't really matter, though - you should be able to download the preview on the EWB downloads page. It should be at the bottom of the page. Tim Young Elevate Software www.elevatesoft.com |
