Tim,

If I:

* Copy a EWB3 project to a new folder
* Save the project as a new project
* Save the unit as a new unit
* Click Save All

EWB 3 wants to save the form file of the new unit in C:\Program Files (x86)\Elevate Web Builder 3 Beta\bin\ewbide\win32\

Sometimes the new project is expected to be stored in the same folder.

By saving the unit and project as new files and overwriting the already existing files resolves the problem.

I don't quite understand what you're describing: could you please give me the 1, 2, 3, etc. steps to recreating the issue ?

I will have another go. See if I can do better this time.

I store a number of test projects, usually with one or two forms, in a folders such as \test12 - Brands&Models\ and \test13 - StockCosts\

If I copy an existing project folder to \test14 - Test\ then there can be a problem with EWB trying to save the files to the program files(x860) folder. The steps involved are:

1. Copy an existing EWB3 project to a new folder
2. Open the existing project file
3. Save the project as a new project such as TestProject
4. Save the unit as a new unit such as TestUnit
5. Add a button to the form
6. Click Save All button.

EWB 3 wants to save the form file of the new unit in C:\Program Files (x86)\Elevate Web Builder 3 Beta\bin\ewbide\win32\TestUnit.wbf with the error (OS Error: Access is denied)

To resolve, perform the following.

1. Click the Save Project As button and save as the new project TestProject
2. Click the Save As button and save as the new unit TestUnit
3. Click Close All button and do not save when requested.
4. Close EWB3

Richard:

To change the folder project, what I do is delete the .wbc extension file.
If it is not deleted, the tag "Designer Path = D: \ PROYECTO.EWB300 \ pdfclient", inside this file, continues indicating the initial folder, from where the project was copied and the new folder is not updated when using the " Save project as ... "
When deleting the configuration file (.wbc), when the project is saved with another name, the new folder is saved, in the "Designer Path" tag inside the .wbc file plus all the other parameters associated with the new project.
I did tests about it, and deleting the file when copying the project, the new configuration works well and units and forms save correctly in the new location.
This seems to be the problem.

I have seen that the IDE retains the last configuration of the last project worked.
Even closing the IDE and reopening it, when a new project is started (without copying it from another folder), it keeps the configuration of the last project worked, at the moment of being saved.

Richard,

Closer...:

<< 2. Open the existing project file >>

Which existing project file are you referring to, the one that you copied or the *new* copy ?

<< 3. Save the project as a new project such as TestProject
4. Save the unit as a new unit such as TestUnit >>

Where are you saving these ?

-------------------------------------------------------------

1. Copy an existing EWB3 project to a new folder
2. Open the existing project file
2a. This is the existing project file in the new folder. The "new" copy is created in the next step.
3. Save the project as a new project such as TestProject
4. Save the unit as a new unit such as TestUnit
4a. These are saved in the new folder. For a project with one unit, the new folder now has the original project file and new project file and an original unit file and the new unit file.
5. Add a button to the form
6. Click Save All button.
