Doc | Thank you very much,
couldn't believe it, now its really out! I think it's very fair how you handle the Elevate Web Builder 2 Preview Customers. Just one problem that is certainly not only mine: EWB2 final version installs in the place where EWB1 was installed and removes EWB1. But we have some projects that are not yet converted to EWB2 and cannot open them with EWB2. Sometimes we have to work on them and it is helpful for transfering them to EWB2 to have them opened in EWB1. What I did is to copy the whole EBW1 folder to another folder (named EBW1) before the files in that folder were deleted by the EWB2 setup. Now I can start EWB1 from this copied folder. Can this cause any problems ? |

Leslie | Tim,
My main OS is Kubuntu and the test system for EWB2 is a VirtualBox Windows XP guest. It seems IE8 is the highest version available for XP so I wanted to use an other browser but the local EWB server does not find the address. ("localhost/transactions.html"). The strange thing is that there is no output directory where according to the compiler messages in the IDE should be. Cheers, Leslie |

** Elevate Web Builder 2 requires Internet Explorer 9 or higher for proper operation of the embedded web browser in the IDE. This is a basic requirement for EWB2, IE 9 or higher as it requires certain browser features not available in the lower versions, including IE8. Check the settings of your localhost. Do you run WAMP or some other web server on port 80? Check and see what port the EWB Web Server is running on and if it is in fact started and running. http://www.elevatesoft.com/manual?action=topics&id=ewb2§ion=using_the_web_server |

Leslie | Trinione ,
I understand the requirements for EWB2. The local webserver is running, it a respondes with a "resource ... not found" message. The main point of my post was the lack of output with the trial version in my case. Maybe it has to do with my system setup or it can be a more general problem. Thanks for your input. Leslie |

Doc | As I understand,
while EWB1 Trial had very few limitations, now EWB2 Trial download says: You can only run applications in the IDE and the compiler does not emit any application files on disk. I tried the full version of EWB2 on XP in a virtual machine. I can work with it, but the output is not compatible with IE6 and therefore not with the internal Web Browser. I get a blank sreen after starting my program and a runtime error 216 after closing the IDE. But I can test the output with Firefox. So I would say that EWB2 trial is not really compatible with Windows XP. You can only test how to create an application but you have no chance to run it. You can use EWB1 trial with XP or use the full version of EWB2 with the limitation that the internal Browser won't show anything. |
