Before I upgrade to EWB 2.06 I would like to keep the changes I have made to some of the controls. Last Time I upgraded they all went back to the default setting.

Thanks,
Kim

You have to back up your old ones - copy them to a folder so you can use them to compare.

Then using something like BeyondCompare to do a comparison of the differences and manually update the new interfaces as required.

And there maybe new or reorganized interfaces - you will need to manually resolve.

If you want to give me a list of the controls, I can post the details of what changed in the control interfaces.  Most of the control interfaces didn't change much.

Tim,

Just those two TBasicPanel and TButton,
Where will I find the files so I can copy them before I install the new version?

Thanks,
Kim

Kim,

TBasicPanel didn't change, but the TButton added a new "Client" UI element that encapsulates the "Icon" and "Caption" elements.

If you modified them, then you would have had to save them in some location other than the default Program Files location (<InstallDir>\interfaces in 2.05 and earlier, and <InstallDir>\interfaces\default in 2.06 or higher).

I didn't modified the files I used the button inside the EWB " Opens the interface for the control ..." to modify the controls. Is that saved in the project?

If you modified the original interface file then this file is
overwritten each time you install a new version. So the answer is "no".

The correct way to create custom interfaces is to copy the interface
file either to your project path or any directory.
If you use a folder <> your project path you have to make sure that this
folder is in the search path (important: above the default interfaces path).

No, that would result in the modifications being saved back to the \Program Files installation location, which means that any new installation of EWB would overwrite them.

I copied the file tbutton.wbi and tbasicpanel.wbi from the interface of the old version of EWB before I installed version 2.06.

After I installed the 2.06 I now see two folder in interface; default and desktop. The default looks like my old files.

What is it I have to change in the old tbutton.wbi to make it work with the new version?
Do I copy the old file into default or desktop folder?

Thanks,
Kim

I have found it easiest to decide which theme you want to use, and then copy the relevant files from that for customising. You could manually adjust the JSON from the old one but it is not simple, and I find it easiest to copy the new one, and alter the relevant values like colour by copying from the customised old version. (Some interfaces are unchanged, but given the apparent complexity I find it easiest to just default to this)
