Tim Young [Elevate Software] Elevate Software, Inc. timyoung@elevatesoft.com | << (1) Am I to understand that EWB/Object Pascal would be used to control non-EWB controls/components? Such as UI elements found in available frontend UI frameworks? >> No, you would just use straight-up UI elements (equivalent to DOM elements) in the designer, and then EWB would generate the static HTML/CSS from that. << Is it a phenomenal amount of work for this change? >> Yeah, it's about 1/2 a year's to 3/4 of a year's worth of work. The IDE has to be changed around and the whole run-time rewrite needs to be completed in order to provide the back-end. Plus, the web server needs to get fleshed out completely. Steve Gill | Hi Richard,
<< Really nice work and the EWB is pretty good. >> Thanks, it's pretty basic but it does the trick. I have some more elaborate ones but they are internal systems so I can't really show you. << It seems that the web designer premium is a yearly charge, is that true ? It seems to work nicely, www.wysiwygwebbuilder looks to use CMS to store the web site contents into which is fine, does web designer generate HTML / PHP / ETC or is it with embedded templates ? Can you modify the Templates or are there only options to change the content (such like WordPress) ? >> They have recently changed the way they do releases. Previously they did a major upgrade each year but now they are releasing new features throughout the year. If you don't renew the support plan or whatever they call it the version you have will continue to work fine, you just don't get the updates. XWD generates HTML and CSS for you but doesn't create any PHP. You can embed PHP or Javascript using "placeholders". I do a lot of that. You can use their templates, modify their templates, and create your own templates. But you don't have to use templates at all. You have complete freedom over the design and content. I always build my sites from scratch and have never actually used any of their templates. There is also Xara Designer Pro which is what I mainly use now. It has all of the features of Xara Web Designer Premium plus document, vector and photo tools. It's a bit more expensive though as it's their flagship product. There is a *3rd party* add-on product that allows you to implement a CMS using Xara. I haven't use it though as the licensing is per site which I don't like. = Steve |

Steve Gill | This shopping cart was done entirely in EWB: https://www.cybercom-software.com/shoppingcart
It's live so don't put your credit card details in. Unless you really want to. = Steve |

rbaroniunas Baron Software | Matthew,
The test server is down so I am guessing it is a hit or miss. Richard Baroniunas Software Developer and DBA Richard@Baronsoftware.com |

Bruno Larochelle | hi folks
re: web page development (vs web app).. I did not notice any mention of 'Microsoft Expression' in this thread. That was an advanced yet inexpensive GUI html/html5 commercial editor -- and Microsoft eventually made it free (I assume it was a commercial flop), after I had purchased my copy of course Search for 'Microsoft Expression Web 4 (free version)' and you will find it on a Microsoft site (ie..Microsoft.com/...) It features a code/visual two-way editor, so it is a great tool for learning html/html5, if nothing else. You can configure it to include <canvas> and css3 as well, and it lets you write scripts (PHP, JavaScript..) as well if you need to. I suppose it can also serve as a companion for EWB if you want/need to generate html/css structures (and then copy/paste) to use in a TBrowser for printing. most of all, the price is right, it is stable, and performs nicely even on low end hardware ..
