Hi All

I want a custom icon on my header panel.  So I opened the Ticonlibrary interface and add a extra
state, then link the new state to my custom icon (png).  When I try and save interface, I get an error
"System Error: Code 5.  access denied".  After clicking OK it does seem to save, but the icon does not
appear on the icon list.  Am I doing something wrong, is this the right way to add a custom icon?

Thanks

Are you editing a copy? If not, I presume that you are trying to
overwrite the one in Program Files, and that won't work. You need to
take a copy (of just it, or all) and then add that folder to the path.

OK .  what I did was make a copy of the interfaces folder for a backup then, tried to edit main interfaces
folder.  I suppose that is why I get the access denied.

Apart from that, am I doing the correct procedure for adding custom icons or is there a better way?

What is the best practise for editing interfaces?

Thanks

You are doing it right, from my understanding.

I think that is being established. I'm pondering how to use version
control for this, so things get merged somehow, but not sure how
practical that is.

Matthew,

The control interface files are simply text files containing JSON, so you can use them with source control.

Just a follow-up for anyone else that experiences this problem.  I solved it by running EWB as an
administrator.

Indeed, I'm just wondering how to do a three-way merge. There's the
original, the changes I made, and the update changes. Or perhaps "how
do I re-do my changes over the updated version". Or something. That's
the complex part.

Matthew,

I was envisioning something along the lines of: do a diff on the old/new, and then manually apply any changes to your interfaces.  We're not talking about a large number of changes, so it should be manageable.
