I know it's not often that I ask for help from everyone else, but I'm having
a Google Chrome browser install issue that I can't resolve, and I was
wondering if anyone else has seen it.

The basic issue is that I'm seeing an "Error 7"  (I know, helpful, right ?)
when trying to install the latest Google Chrome.  I've uninstalled all other
versions of Chrome, made sure that any Google directories are gone, all
registry entries are gone, services gone, etc.  But, no matter what I do, I
can't get it to install without that error.  So, I'm kind of dead in the
water here for testing against Chrome until I can get it installed.

I'm apparently not the only one that is getting this error, either, so it's
definitely a flaw in the installer.  It's just a matter of trying to find
out what the flaw is, so I know how to correct it.

Thanks,

Hi Tim,

Sorry never seen the error but i assume you've tried this : http://support.google.com/chrome/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=117807 and/or http://support.google.com/chrome/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=111996

Have you done any updates to your OS or MS dev environment - i know .net framework installers can cause issues with windows install engine so running a repair on .net framework 3.x and 4.x installers might help. I know Chrome does not use any of that.

Finally - network/router issues? Do you have any other systems and are they seeing error 7 ?

Yep.

I finally found the "verbose" option for installing Chrome, and I'm getting
this:

System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception: The system cannot find the file
specified
  at System.Diagnostics.Process.StartWithShellExecuteEx(ProcessStartInfo
startInfo)
  at System.Diagnostics.Process.Start()
  at System.Diagnostics.Process.Start(ProcessStartInfo startInfo)
  at ClickOnceBootstrap.ClickOnceEntry.Main()

So, better than "Error 7", but not by much. Smile

I'm going to try repairing .NET, because apparently the Chrome installer
does use .NET. Smile

Nope, other machines work fine. Frown

Raul, Everyone,

I finally got it to install by using the standalone installer for multiple
user accounts.  I was using the standalone installer for a single user
account before (in addition to the ClickOnce installer), and for some reason
it would not work.
