DBISam Server Ports Are Often Closed |

Gregory Sebastian | The default DBISam Server ports are 12005 & 12006. However these ports don't
work very well when trying to connect to the server from some public wifi hotspots like some airports, hotels, macdonalds and some cafes etc. These ports appear to be closed in these places. Has anyone found a solution to this like maybe other commonly open port we can use. Thanks Greg |

I'm not sure why they would be concerned with which ports clients are connecting *to*, as opposed to incoming connections to certain ports. This would disallow many non-standard TCP/IP applications, such as Remote Desktop, etc. Tim Young Elevate Software www.elevatesoft.com |

Gregory Sebastian | Hi Tim,
I'm guessing its not so much that they are blocking certain server ports but that they are just allowing the common Internet ports (maybe 80, 8080, 443, 110, 25 etc) and blocking the rest. Some of my customers also reported that they could connect to their own DBISam server (12006/12006) from home or from a branch office but not at some hotel wifi etc. I often found that on these hotspots (hotels, macdonalds), whenever I had trouble connecting to DBISam server on 12005, I also could not connect to Windows RDP on port 3389. But for some reason, I had no trouble using other Remote Desktop Solutions like TeamViewer and Logmein. I found that TeamViewer uses 80 and 443 while Logmein uses 12975 & 32976 but will eventually try 443 if unsuccessful (see below). I don't know for sure but I think its the ports that are blocked on these hotspots. Sometime back I tried running a DBISam Server on port 80, 8080 and 443 but wasn't successful . Just wondering if anyone has found a solution.
