Customising the server |

"Adam H." | Hi Guys,
I'm looking at customising the DBISam 4 server with a couple of procedures, such as checking disk space, and sending backups from the server to the client so they can save locally. My main concern in doing this is DBISam updates. When DBISam has another minor update, do I have to re-script my entire server again, or are the files that are normally updated non-server specific so a simple rebuild will suffice? Cheers Adam. |

David Puett | All of the Server functionality is built into the component so feel free to
customize the program's code. Here is what I have done with it http://www.activebiometrics.com/products/activeserver/index.html On 5/14/09 7:38 PM, in article A3DDDA66-159D-492F-AD42-F16E9633479C@news.elevatesoft.com, "Adam H." <ahairsub5@jvxp_removeme.com> wrote: > Hi Guys, > > I'm looking at customising the DBISam 4 server with a couple of procedures, > such as checking disk space, and sending backups from the server to the > client so they can save locally. > > My main concern in doing this is DBISam updates. << Now you tell me I could swear I read it once you couldnt rename it and claim it as your own honest I could. >> Not as a competitor to us, no. For example, you can't just re-brand it and sell it as the "Joe Smith Database Engine", but you can re-brand it and include it as the database server part of the "Joe Smith Accounting System". -- Tim Young Elevate Software www.elevatesoft.com |
